Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt

cookie dough greek yogurt

I love cookie dough. I’m actually obsessed with cookie dough. I’m that crazy person who makes chocolate chip cookies just so I can eat the dough until I get sick.

I wish I was kidding.

If you use Pinterest you’ve probably seen 9837823945 recipes for Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt and they’re all pretty similar: 1 container greek yogurt, peanut butter, vanilla, honey and chocolate chips. Except there is 1 HUGE problem with all of these recipes.

The peanut butter flavor completely overpowers everything and these recipes don’t taste anything like actual cookie dough.

Let me introduce the secret ingredient for making Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt actually taste like cookie dough…

Normally cashew butter is extremely expensive but good old Trader Joe’s sells it for only $7.99. I’ve seriously seen cashew butter at other places being sold for almost $20…no thanks.

Cashew butter works perfectly because it is naturally very creamy, sweet and has a very mild flavor. In my opinion other nut butters have very strong distinct flavors (which I love) but not for when you’re trying to disguise it.

I’ve been experimenting for months on the perfect combination of ingredients to create a Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt that actually tastes like cookie dough and I think I’ve finally done it. For this recipe you need the following:

  • 1 container plain greek yogurt (0% or 2%)
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 tsp maple syrup
  • 1.5 tsp honey
  • pinch of salt
  • chocolate chips

  • Mix together and enjoy! Personally, I think this tastes best when you make it then let it cool for at least 30 mins in the refrigerator.

You can use either 0% plain greek yogurt or 2%…honestly they both comes out tasting pretty much the same. The 2% just has a slightly creamier texture.

Regardless of your choice of yogurt this delicious treat comes out to be about 300 calories and has WAY less sugar and fat that actual cookie dough.

Eat it as a snack, as a dessert or whenever the heck you’re just craving something sweet and delicious.

Your Turn,

Have you ever tried Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt?

What is your favorite nut butter?

Do you prefer the cookie dough or the actual cookie?

Great minds think alike! I eat this all the time haha I just mix in Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter and some chocolate chips in my plain Greek yogurt so I’m excited to try yours since it probably has less sugar than mine. And every time I buy a jar of the cookie butter it’s gone in like 2 days…woops. Picking up some cashew butter this weekend!

It’s seriously so hard for me to keep nut butter in my house too but the cashew butter is just too perfect for making this little treat so I have to have it on hand.

Sad fact: I’ve never tried cashew butter. But I do love cashews! I’ve been on a cashew kick lately because we have free snacks at our work and a giant jar of cashews is one of them. I’ve been eating them like crazy.

GAAAAAAAH how do you not eat THE ENTIRE CONTAINER?! This looks ridiculously addicting (which basically means crazy delicious). So creative with the use of cashew butter!

    • Reply Diana Becker February 20, 2016 at 7:49 am

The best part is you CAN eat the whole container. I just use the little individual 6-8oz yogurts and the whole treat is about 300 dig in and enjoy guilt free 🙂

Cashew butter is genius – I love the creamy flavour it lends without being too overpowering. I will def give this a go – some of my favourite smoothies as of late have this in it! Have you ever made it on your own? Would love to give that a try with a lil vanilla!! Also sounds heavenly frozen! yummmmmmm! xx

PS – I am with you re: making cookies so you can eat the dough…. it’s the best part! 😉

I hope you love this as much as I did! I have a ton leftover so I will definitely look at some smoothie recipes. I’ve never tried making it on my own but I’m assuming it’s similar to making almond butter where you literally just throw some almonds into a food processor and let it go for 15 mins.

I’m going to experiment with that! Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂

Fantastic recipe! I love it! Thank you, thank you for posting it. This has saved me sooooo many calories from the real thing! I tossed in some oatmeal as an added bonus, because choc chip oatmeal cookie dough is my favorite!! Very delish!!!

    • Reply Diana Becker May 1, 2016 at 10:13 pm

Omg I can’t wait to try this with oats- BEST IDEA EVER!

  • Reply Tara February 21, 2017 at 11:46 am

Has anyone tried this with almond butter? I just want some now and don’t have any cashew butter on hand!!

    • Reply Diana Becker February 21, 2017 at 12:25 pm

I think it would be great with almond butter! I only did cashew because it’s such a mild flavor (unlike peanut butter) but almond is pretty mild too. It’s also SO GOOD with a couple tablespoons of oats for some texture mmmmmmm. Let me know how it turns out 🙂

Tastes really good with almond butter.
