Let’s get right into this post shall we?
Well my very exciting news is that I GOT A NEW JOB working at Perfect Bar (yes, THE Perfect Bar)! This opportunity truly is a dream come true for me and I have this blog to thank for it.
Live Lean Eat Green has helped take my passion for nutrition, heath education, fitness and weight loss to the next level. I could not be more thrilled to get back into the nutrition field and help spread the word about the best whole food protein bar on the market!
I know you’re probably thinking I’m insane taking on a brand new job with only 1 month until my first marathon….and yep I probably am.
But when you get an opportunity to work at Perfect Bar you HAVE to take it!
Here’s hoping that I don’t have a running hangover creeps up on me on my first day today.
Speaking of running hangovers…Do any of you experience these? The day after a really long run I sometimes just feel drained, have a headache and am just kind of dead.
Thoughts? Tips? Advice? Do tell!
Marathon Training Update:
YOU GUYSSSS! Sh*t is getting so real for this marathon. It is officially only 1 month away! I have 2 more weeks of actual training then 2 weeks of tapering and boom ready or not it’s marathon time.
My long runs have been great and I even shaved off 5 minutes from my last 20 mile run! I’ve now ran 20 miles 3 times and each time I’ve felt stronger and stronger.
The first time I ran 20 miles I came home and passed out for 3 hours and couldn’t move for days after, the second time I had to lay down for like 5 hours and just binge watch tv and then today I felt great. I went out to lunch, grocery shopped, cleaned the house…I think my body is finally getting use to this whole long run thing.
But if we’re being honest training this past week has not been ideal.
I talked last week about how marathon training isn’t always sunshine and rainbows like a lot of people portray it to be.
Actually, it really sucks to be training at this intensity sometimes.
For example, Friday was my last day at work and obviously my coworkers and I had to do a farewell lunch. Well…1 beer and 3 tequila shots later I was dead and it was only 1:00 pm (oops).
Love you guys!!!!
Oh but it continues…
One of my good friend was also in town from San Francisco for San Diego State’s graduation. So after a good power nap I went down to Pacific Beach to meet up with everyone. Somewhere between catching up and 2 for 1 happy hour specials I found myself still awake out at the bars at 2:00 am.
I wish wine and marathon training went together but OMG they don’t.
I missed my workout Saturday and instead ate a burrito, pizza, Thai food and an entire container of Halo Top in a desperate attempt to feel better.
Let’s just say yesterday’s 20 mile run was painful. The entire time my stomach was so upset and I was still feeling slightly hungover..
I’m officially giving up alcohol until after my race which is going to be challenging considering Memorial Day Weekend, my boyfriend and a few friends have birthdays plus one of my best friends is moving back down to San Diego in a couple weeks.
So as you can see from this post I’m really struggling to stay focused on marathon training. Half of me is still so motivated to crush this race and the other half is so ready for it to be over so I can have my social life back.
I’m taking this week to scale back a little bit on my mileage and let my body recover before 1 last long run over Memorial Day Weekend.
Maybe all I need is a week to reset and relax? If any of you marathon runners out there have any advice on staying focused in that final stretch of training I’d really appreciate it!
- Monday: Rest, stretch and ice
- Tuesday: 9 easy miles
- Wednesday: Yoga sculpt
- Thursday: Rest, stretch and ice
- Friday: 6 miles
- Saturday: Yoga sculpt
- Sunday: 15 miles at a 10:00/mile pace
Have you ever tried Perfect Bars before?
Have you ever experience a running hangover?
Any tips to help me get refocused on my training?
