Before I talk more about what you get at the Fit Foodie Run I just want to remind people that you don’t have to run a 5k. If you’d prefer to just walk it and enjoy the complementary food and drinks after the race you are more than welcome to do so!
The whole point is just to get active, have fun and eat delicious food!

Oh and can we talk about the shirts for a second…
TANK TOPS! I wish every single race did tanks instead of t-shirts. I have no idea why but I can only run in long sleeves or a tank…there’s no middle ground.
Such cute tanks right?

Fit Foodie Run Training:
Instead of doing this race just for fun I decided I really wanted to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. I talked about it more in this post but I’m usually a very slow distance runner so racing for speed is something very very new to me.
My goal for this 10k is to run it in less than 50 minutes. In order to achieve this goal I have to run about an 8 minute mile pace the entire race…AHHH!
I have not been training quite as much as I would like but after months and months of marathon training I’ve been LOVING not forcing myself to run if I don’t feel like it.
One training run I do have to share with you all is this 5 miler cut down run I did a couple weeks ago. It was one of those days where I really didn’t want to run and in the first mile my legs just felt heavy. I was shocked to look down and my watch and see that I had ran my first mile in 8:41…WHAT?!
I was feeling so motivated I really decided to push it. I ended up running my 4th mile in 6:53…SERIOUSLY?!? I don’t think I have ran a mile that fast since high school.
The point is you should always change things up and challenge yourself. You’ll be amazed what you can accomplish!
I guess the theme of this post kind of turned into challenging yourself to try something new.
If you’ve never done a 5k before seriously consider the Fit Foodie Run. It’s a beautiful, flat course downtown San Diego along the water which is great for beginners.
Experienced runners? Why not go out there and push yourself to try to run your fastest 5k or if you’re feeling really crazy like me there is also a Fit Foodie Run 10k option!
