Sorry this post is a day late but I was just too dead from my trip to San Francisco to write anything yesterday.
Speaking of my trip…it was AMAZING! We flew in early Friday morning and immediately headed to Blackwood for brunch and bottomless mimosas. If any of you ever go to San Francisco you HAVE TO try Blackwood’s “Millionaire’s Bacon”…it will change your life. The rest of the day was spent sipping on drinks and soaking up some sunshine.
On Saturday we headed up to Napa which is about an hour outside of the city for some wine tasting. To say we went all out for this wine tasting would be an understatement. We rented a limo, stayed at an AirBnB, got all dressed up and made it to 4 wineries! Our day ended with us climbing the Napa sign for a picture so I’ll let you all just use your imagination how the day went HA!
We woke up Sunday not feeling too hot so decided to go to Chandon to sip some champagne and nurse our hangovers. They didn’t end up having food so we left and stopped through In N Out (so healthy/ classy I know) then ended the trip eating $1 oysters down at the Embarcadero.
Real talk though…I’m exhausted and the thought of having a race this weekend is kind of scaring me. BUT hey what are you going to do? I’m going to sip on water/electrolytes all day, sleep and get over it.

Like I mentioned above I’m running the Hot Chocolate 15k this weekend. I’ve put in A LOT of training for this race and am really excited to run my first race of 2017!
I don’t have any specific goals for this race other than to have an awesome time and get the hang of racing again considering its been 7 months since I’ve done any official running.
Going into this taper week I’m going to be doing a lot of shorter runs and yoga. THANK GOODNESS!
Here’s what the Hot Chocolate Plan recommends doing:
And like usual here’s what I’m going to do:
- Monday: Easy 4 mile run
- Tuesday: yoga
- Wednesday: Easy 3 mile run + yoga sculpt
- Thursday: yoga
- Friday: rest
- Saturday: yoga + walking at the expo
- Sunday: Hot Chocolate 15k!!!!
Quick side note I LOVE how the Hot Chocolate 15/5k provides runners with a training plan. When you registered you got to pick if this was your first 15k, you were a beginner, you were looking to PR and I think there were a couple other options. I chose “looking to PR” since I figured I was already kind of in shape and wanted to challenge myself.
For Rock ‘N’ Roll San Diego I plan on following a training plan again to loosely base my workouts around and am thinking about doing Kara Goucher’s 10-Week Half Marathon Training Plan.
It requires A LOT more running than I’m use to BUT I’m really chasing that PR of 1:45:00 or less.
